Indiana Day

On this date in 1816 statehood was granted to Indiana by Congress and they became the 19th US state. Indiana Day will be celebrated by public schoolchildren (presumably tomorrow since it's Sunday) and the general Hoosier population on the occasion of the state's 195th birthday.

An Indiana-shaped sticker from WFBQ in Indianapolis. "Q95" has been a Rock station since 1974, first with the automated "TM Stereo Rock" format, then using live and local jocks starting in 1978. The most powerful FM signal in the state is the flagship station of The Bob & Tom Show which is syndicated to about 150 stations nationwide.

WACO



WACO is a Country station from (where else?) but Waco, Texas. "WACO 100" is a double rarity; one of only a handful of stations that defies the "K" call letters west of the Mississippi River rule and one of only three stations whose call letters spells out their city-of-license. (The other two are in Wise, Virginia and Ware, Massachusetts.)

KRVM






KRVM (K Radio Vocational Mechanics) is a non-commercial Adult Album Alternative station broadcasting from Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. Specialty programs in the evening and weekends include Native American music, Blues, Electronica, Funk and Reggae. Eugene's first FM station went on the air in 1947 with two purposes: (1) To serve as a training ground for people looking to get qualified for technical and programming jobs and (2) To transmit educational programs to the city's public schools. They no longer do the second part but they still train high school students in the art of radio. KRVM simulcasts on a translator at 90.1 FM licensed to Florence, OR and on KSYD 92.1 FM licensed to Reedsport, OR.

KBSU

KBSU-FM plays Classical, Blues and Jazz and is a National Public Radio affiliate owned by Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. 91.5 KBSX is a News/Talk station in the Boise State Public Radio Network. In total, there are more than a dozen stations and translators in the network covering much of central and southern Idaho as well as parts of Nevada and Utah. KBSU AM 730 has been sold off and is now "NewsRadio" KINF.

Downtown Radio broadcasts a Hot AC format from Newtownards, Northern Ireland. They were the first commercial radio station in Ireland after going on the air in 1976 and currently exists on one AM and seven FM frequencies. Evening and weekend specialty shows include Country, Jazz, Gospel and Folk.

KXCV is a 100,000-watt public radio station broadcasting from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. They carry the main offerings from National Public Radio along with Classical and Jazz shows. KRNW is a 38,000-watt repeater licensed to Chillicothe, MO and covering northwest Missouri and parts of Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.

WQLN-FM (We Question and LearN) plays Classical and Jazz music as well as programming from National Public Radio, Public Radio International and American Public Media. Along with the main 91.3 FM frequency, WQLN repeats their signal on four translators located in northwestern Pennsylvania and one in southwestern New York. WQLN is licensed to Erie, PA.
