Bills and Bengals - WLW / WABH

This afternoon, my son and I spent about 4 hours in non-stop rain (remnants of Hurricane Nate) watching the Buffalo Bills lose to the Cincinnati Bengals 20-14.  The Bills came into the game with a 3-1 record while Cincy was 1-3 but I knew Buffalo wasn't as good as they appeared and the Bengals weren't as bad.  My team has exactly one productive receiver, tight end Charles Clay and he went out with an injury early in the game.  LeSean McCoy can be a stunningly great running back but has been shut down in two of the Bills four games so far this season.  Combine that with a inaccurate passer who scrambles better than he throws and you can only hope the improved defense keeps it close....but it wasn't to be.  Still fun to go to the game as always.

The Bengals have three flagship stations in their radio network: 102.7 WEBN, ESPN 1530 WCKY and, once the Cincinnati Reds season is over, 700 WLW.

Formerly WFSR, Oldies 1380 WABH is one of about two dozen stations in the Buffalo Bills radio network.

The sticker equivalent to a bland, Soviet-era, concrete apartment building, this no-frills black-and-white beauty belongs to WMVO AM 1300 in (W) Mount Vernon, Ohio.  They currently carry a full-service Oldies format along with Talk and Sports programming.  The FM half actually went on the air first in 1951 while the AM sister station came along two years later.  WMVO-FM became WQIO in 1986.  WMVO-AM is also heard on translator W265DJ on 100.9 FM.

KOTR

A sticker circa 2000 from "K-Otter 94.9" KOTR licensed to Cambria, California.  They carried an Adult Album Alternative format and were on the air from 1984 until they were sold in 2004.  I'm guessing that the "K-Otter" logo is upside down because real otters float around (and even sleep) on their backs.

KASR

680 AM KASR was the campus radio station of Arizona State University.  Broadcasting Yearbooks from that time don't include KASR as they were probably an unlicensed carrier current station.  The video below are local news reports about a 63-hour Thanksgiving holiday marathon airshift by two KASR DJs in 1987.
