1490 AM WESL existed in St. Louis, Missouri from 1972 until 2007. They were best known as a Soul/R&B station starting in the early 1970s. The WESL call letters (and frequency!) are still being used at a St. Louis-based online-only station known as "
Praizze 1490".

Greg, don't forget WESL was also the 1st station in St. Louis to play Hip-Hop or Rap music as well!

WESL "Love 14" actually operated put of East St. Louis, Illinois but it's signal reached several communities in Missouri.
