Association) is a Classical music station in Washington, DC. They are a 75,000-watt, grandfathered "superpower" station which somehow received permission to exceed the 50,000-watt maximum eight years after the limits were set. WETA went on the air in April, 1970. Today they are also simulcast on 89.1 FM WGMS in Hagerstown, Maryland and translator W205BL licensed to Frederick, MD.
