AM 1590 KYOK was on the air in Houston, Texas from 1954 until 1999. They were originally owned by two Louisiana businessmen who operated a chain of stations in the southern United States, all of which had "OK" in their call letters and were targeted to African-American listeners. KYOK's formats over the years included R&B, Urban Contemporary, Gospel, Hip-Hop/Urban and Soul Oldies. In the early 1990s their programming was simulcast on two FM rimshot signals in Houston. The KYOK call letters currently exist at 1140 AM now licensed to Conroe, Texas.
