WIBN "98 Gold" is an Oldies station licensed to Earl Park, Indiana. Their call letters refer to the nearest three counties of their listening area--Iroquois, Benton and Newton. Anybody know the format from when they were known as "Interstate 98.1"? Leave a comment.

Back in the 90s after they moved to 98.1, Interstate 98, as it was called, aired an adult contemporary format supplied by SMN and later ABC Radio Network’s Hits and Favorites 24/7 format. Before that, they went back and forth between AC and country and broadcasted on 98.3.
On October 1,2001, the Interstate changed formats to Oldies (using ABC Radio Network’s Oldies Radio format) and changed its name to 98 Gold, which is actually the name of the station despite their logo.
Recently, 98 Gold moved out of Oxford, IN and in with its sister stations in Rensselaer, which seems to be the target area these days. It also evolved to pop-based classic hits. I think they’re using one of the Local Radio Networks formats these days outside their local morning show.
Thanks Ken!
